How to Connect 2 Computers

If you where there are 2 PC or a laptop and a PC, then you can connect two devicesfor the sharing, you can share files, printers, or to connect it modem. But you do need some tools. Required to connect the two computers to each other should have a network card adapters, but in general, PCs and laptops are already equipped with a network adapter. You also need an ethernet crossover cable to connect a second PC. crossover Ethernet cable can be purchased at computer stores in your neighborhood.

Once you buy the cable and pair in the second PC, then that is:

1 .  Setting the PC network properties

  • Windows XP: Press Start -> Settings -> Network Connections. Windows Vista: Press Start -> Connect To -> View network computers and devices -> Network and Sharing Center.
  • Windows XP: Go to the Local Area Connection and right click. Select Properties, and the Local Area Connection. Windows Vista: Select Properties, and the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box appears. Windows Vista: Select Manage Network Connections, click Local Area Connection. Press the Properties button, then Local Area Connection Properties dialog box will appear.
  • Windows XP: Select the Internet Protocol (TCP / IP) and press the Properties button. Windows Vista: Select the Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and press the Properties button. After that Internet Protocol (TCP / IP) Properties dialog box appears.
  • Select the Following ip address for both System Opeerasi TSB.
  • IP address 192.168.1. X (where x is a 1-255 number – this number is for the local network. Because you just connect the two computers on your network, you are advised to use 1 and 2. Set its PC 1 ip 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.2 for the computer second). In subnetmask 255.255.255.0 (for both computers). then press OK.

2. Create a workgroup to a local network

  • Windows XP: Open the System Properties using Win + Break. Windows Vista: Open System Properties using Win + Break, click Advanced system settings.
  •  Select the Computer Name tab, click Change. Specifies the name of the computer in the computer field name, select the workgroup members, and enter the name of the workgroup (HOME on the picture below). After that rebbot / restart the PC.
  • Now both PC are connected to each other in a network.
  • Windows XP: To access it from another computer: press Start -> Settings -> Network Settings. Click on My Network Places, click Entire Network, double-click Microsoft Windows Network, double click HOME workgroup, the name of the PC will appear.
